Archives for May 2014

A lot has happened this month and I hardly know where to start.

Pearl went to Solihull horse trials and won her section and a cup for best mare but I think we already knew that! Chatsworth went well, Pearl jumped clear around the advanced which was very exciting and Mike did a brilliant job with her. She has also had success show jumping.

Xavier went all the way to Tattersalls in Ireland and jumped a very impressive double clear with Danni. He really is a cross country super star!

Rosie Dickens fabulous horse Flynn found himself a lovely new home and of course we wish him and his new owner the very best of luck and hope they have a lovely long relationship together.

Rosie’s other little horse, a four year old called Birdie, was bought by Rachel Sheldon to produce and sell.  It was lovely to see her taken on by someone who can set her up to have the best future possible.

Hilldown Mungo has arrived to be broken in and although rather fat is very cute and  friendly, so I am sure will be no problem to get riding.

We have a few very nice quality horses into sell and I will keep you posted on their progress

The most exciting news this month is that it has finally been dry enough to put our new flexi ride surface down at Moor Farm. So we now have two arenas in use.

We have been out competing quite a lot this month. The Leighlands have been on form with Pearl winning the foxhunter at Summerhouse, she came 4th at Rectory Farm eventers combined training and then pinged around the OI at Gatcombe with Mike. Xavier has also been on form when he went to Rectory Farm and jumped 2 clear rounds with Danni and then onto Larkhill jumping a beautiful double clear in the Novice to finish 6th.

The Hilldowns have been strutting their stuff with Gemma. Parsley won both the prelims at Summerhouse, and Hocus came second in both the prelims at Rockhampton. Prophet not only has been winning some money show jumping with Mike but has also been to dressage with George gaining over 70%. Harley and George continue their winning streak and won the walk trot test again.

Bisto, the charming coloured horse we have into sell won the first dressage test Gemma did with him and then behaved brilliantly with George on the Frampton fun ride.

Flynn has been amazing winning two BD novice tests with over 70% and even getting a write up in the Horse and Hound. He is now only two points off his regional final qualifications.

The rallies are still as popular as ever with the next one on Saturday 12th April and then flat two weeks after on the 26th.
