May

Pearl and Xavier at Aston le Walls

Pearl and Xavier at Aston le Walls

May began on a rather sad note with the loss of Sunnybank Silverslate (Sid), another old boy in the yard.  Dian Phillips’s lovely grey had been with me for years and had enjoyed success at BD dressage and unaffiliated evening.

On the eventing front, Pearl had a much needed run at Aston le Walls despite the weather.   A successful couple of days were had at Millfield BE with Vikki and Merlin jumping a double clear in the BE80 (which was his first BE outing), Ellen finishing in 4th and Laura and Boycie having a 30 dressage and double clear in the BE100.

Mike had a very successful day at Rockingham with Hilldown Prophet finishing third in the CIC** and Treloar finishing fifth in the CCI***.

Portia at Pontispool

Portia at Pontispool

We rounded off the month with Pontispool where Xavier finished seventh in the novice and Portia, defying her 20 years and four foals, was ninth in the BE80.

In the midst of all this activity, Robin and I managed to escape for a long weekend to Majorca to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
